1892 |
Grace
Lutheran Church began its mission as an English-speaking Lutheran
congregation. |
1893 |
First Sanctuary
dedicated. This structure still stands on the corner of
Garrison and Clover Streets. |
1928 |
Groundbreaking
for present church facility at 705 West State Street. |
1929 |
Cornerstone laid. |
1930 |
Dedication of
the present Education Wing and Parsonage (now the office area) of
Grace Lutheran Church. |
1941 |
Present Sanctuary
dedicated. |
1948 |
The National
Convention of the former American Lutheran Church (1930) was held
at Grace Lutheran Church. |
1948-1972

The stained glass
windows were installed in the Sanctuary. |
1974 |
The Chapel Mosaic
was installed in the Sanctuary of Grace Lutheran Church. |
1977-1978 |
The refurbishing
of the Grace Lutheran Church facility. |
1981 |
The Ohio District
Convention of the American Lutheran Church (1960) was hosted by Lutheran
Churches of Sandusky County and Grace Lutheran Church. |
1985 |
The Baptism Mosaic
was installed in the Sanctuary of Grace Lutheran Church. |
1987 |
Property to the
west of Grace Church’s Sanctuary was purchased after repeated
attempts, beginning already in 1920. Parking Lot and Church Sign was
dedicated in 1989. |
1889 |
9:20 a.m. worship
service begins. |
1990 |
“Mission
90” Program implemented. Lay Staff became part of Grace Lutheran
Church’s ministry: Carl Trick (1989), Maureen Pump (1992), and
Robert Hartman (1994). |
1992 |
Centennial of
Grace Lutheran Church. Guests included: Pastor John Mittermaier, Pastor
Lawrence C. Price, Paul Manz, Organist, and John Ylvisaker, Songwriter. |
1993 |
“Mission
90 Plus” Program implemented to begin plans for refurbishing
the facility, additional lay staffing, and special offerings for the
mission of the church (Lutheran Social Services, Trinity Seminary,
and Capital University.) |
2001 |
Wednesday night
"Spirit" ministry developed. |
